Calvary Chapel had no choice in the stand that had to be taken against Emergent Church, or any other(s) of like mind. The Scriptures are very clear in what a follower of His ought to be and what is His Will. Jesus warns about many who will be turned away on the Day of Judgment as He never knew them.
May we stand firm and pure in Christ's Way and not in the way of Emergent Church and others like them.
We need to pray that they return to their first love, that is Christ.

I don't think anyone has an issue with candles (well I shouldn't say anyone because I grew up in a group of Churches called the GARB and they have an issue with everything...) I think for Mark and for people like myself this is an issue over the Bible and what we view as major divergence not technique. So I say hey if candles work for you light em if you got em' :) If it helps people connect with Jesus and worship him better i say cool. It's the larger issues that loom for me. Namely a view of scripture which minimizes doctrine, and in the process minimizes what is meant by inspiration (i.e. makes Paul less inspired then Jesus) and a tendency toward universalism. I would love to hear what a balanced view of Icons is though, (and remeber I grew up Baptist so it may take me a while to understnad...lol)
