I am Concerned…

10 Oct

I don’t know who these people are..so I will not vouch for them,  but I will vouch for the fact that they are right about the placement of Abortion Clinics and for the fact that abortion seems to be an intentional war against black and Latino populations in our cities.  I would also agree that this is genocide.  Abortion is a justice issue.  Plain and simple.  People can make it what ever else they like,  but the fact is a woman who has an abortion is making a decision to be an oppressor.  You can not claim to love justice and support abortion in general and abortive genocide against whole races in particular.

The wild irony I am seeing among younger evangelicals is an abandonment of this issue to become “green”…  How sad.  I support stewardship of the earth, but why the abandonment of one of the few social issues where we evangelicals actually held the social, moral and spiritual high ground.  The earth is important.  We should protect it.  But humans alone are special among God’s creation.  If you doubt this consider: There is no redemption plan for trees.  Trees do not bare the image of God,  unborn children do.  Unborn children of every color.  Shame on us young evangelicals.  May we regain our love of Justice.

Isn’t it Time to Be Honest?

1 Jun

I think it is time for Christians who whine about illegal immigration to to either confess that they are unrepentant racists, unrepentant nationalists, or racked with a fear that is completely inappropriate for a Christ follower. Let me remind you: You are not primarily an American, you are a citizen of heaven. Let me also remind you that most Christians in the world are neither white nor American, that being said I am sensing that some of you might be very uncomfortable when you get to heaven because there are bound to be lots of Mexicans, Guatemalans and Dominicans…also there is a good chance that they will not be speaking English and to some of you that seems to be inherently connected to the value of a man (in fact to some of you I suspect it is right up there with skin color…), some of the “Law Breakin’ Mexekins” might even take your job in heaven. So I say to you: either start complaining for the Canadians to be thrown out of the country or admit it you have a sin problem.

Another suburban church shows its dedication to rescuing us…

13 Apr

You ever notice that it is always easier to get involved from a distance? Such the case in the latest from large suburban church here in Grand Rapids MI. It seems that they are holding a conference on how to love their “neighbors” (and they do not it seems mean their neighbors in Grandville, they mean their po’ neighbors) and inviting the CCDA (Christian Community Development Association) to lead it. Now I love the CCDA but the ironic thing to me is that CCDA is based on three “R”s: Reconciliation, Redistribution and Relocation. It is the third “R” that I suspect this church will not practice, but hey they could sell their mall and move to the hood, sure some of their SUV’s and beemers might get scratched but it could happen.

I guess I just find it mildly annoying when a church full of yuppies and their offspring decide they are going to change my world. That is after all what we need, 10,000 messiahs in sports utility vehicles descending upon us to rescue us with their master cards and know-how. It will be beautiful, the will come in, inquire what gang every black kid is in, talk with the Latinos about how they sneaked into the country, teach us all how to use a clean wash cloth and then ride off after having fixed everything. They will then go to Atlanta Bread company to debrief and praise the Lord for the miraculous ways in which he used them in our lives. We on the other hand will all slink back to the bus stop so we can catch a ride down to family dollar where we will pawn our food stamps and trade two of our baby’s diapers for a pack of smokes and a lotto ticket.

Can’t post too Depressed…And the Mole Sings On

9 Nov

Everything I care about loses.  Every sports team (Including the Pistons at this very moment)..every politician..depressing.  You have to be talented to vote like I did yesterday.  I am not a straight ticket voted.. I research, I care and yet somehow after voting equally  Republicans and Democrats and equally yes or no on the proposals,  everyone or thing I voted for lost except for 2 and one of the winners only gets to control your licence.

I went out and voted my conscience…voted for justice, voted for life, I believe voted the best way for the empoverished, voted for education, voted for women and minorities, all the votes I believe were most compatible with the teaching of the Bible and the way of Jesus and yet they all lost.  Oh well, I guess I will have to go back to depending upon God to change the world instead.

PS. To all who voted for Prop. 2 I hope someone you care about is not a woman…Or a Latino or anyone else that this proposal will hurt.  You got what you wanted: assurance that the majority will continue to rule, that those who are already the best connected (don’t kid yourself, they are not most qualified they are most connected) will continue to use those connections to get a leg up and other more qualified candidates will be passed over due to the sin of being born a minority.   I just wonder how we Caucasians will feel about that when we are no longer the majority? I feel good about this though: at least white people in Michigan care about doves…that’s something I suppose.

Why I am Voting for the Rich Guy who Can’t speak

14 Oct

So if you live in Michigan, you probably did not see the Gubernatorial debates because inexplicably they were on at the same time as the Tigers playoff game…But if you did, then you, like I, know our choice is between a guy who can’t speak and a mole..err..um woman who can’t speak. Seriously I want to write to the DeVos campaign and suggest to them that they might want to hire Al Gore as a speaking coach because he seems way livelier and much more authentic then Dick DeVos.  His speaking has this sureal hum to it that says “I am really caring and empathic in a faking it sort of way”.  It makes me want to slam my head in a door. Oh well. And J.Granholm, my goodness stop starting every sentence with “in fact”. It was “in fact” this and “in fact” that. Just stop. Besides the ironic humor of a politican ever saying “in fact” before whatever they will say next (which we all know will likely in no way be a fact) it is completely annoying and I am sure must violate some rule of Gramar. It would probably be more acurate for you to begin each sentence with “what I am about to say is only a ‘fact’ if you are already voting for me, and if you are not then the next ten minutes of hemmmming and hawing will not at all distract you from the giant growth on my face.” By the way, Dick DeVos may have cut 1400 jobs, but it would do you well to remember that he cut them in the economic climate you created…But alas I digress.

Now the interesting thing about American Politics is this, there is really no such thing as representative government unless you are rich. If you are not rich the likelihood of you being represented by someone who is truly and ideologically like you are slim and none..(you gotta be rich to get elected, thus most political decisions benefit Stockholders and not workers, i.e. NAFTA). And if you are me and have strange sort of God given bias toward the poor, then it is unusual for you to say hey, I want to elect the rich dude who has probably never experienced even a minute of what people in my neighborhood have experienced. Yet this November I will be voting for Dick. The reason is simple, Michigan is the 50th worst state in this country to do business in. People think that we are losing all of our manufacturing jobs to Mexico when in actuality many are just going to Kentucky and other states with a favorable climate. One thing I know is this, if the rich are not making money in this state, neither will the poor. If the job climate is awful who does that affect most? Not the rich, but the poor. So this year I will vote for the rich guy, because I truly believe that this is an issue of conscience and Justice. To go another 6 years with the current job market would be unjust, inhumane and sinful.

As Proof Texts I quote Michael Gerson:

“I don’t have any moral qualms about saying that free-market economics are the single best way to take millions of people out of poverty that the world has ever seen,”
